Synopsis

Fire Chief Noah Baker has succumbed to temptation at last in the arms of firefighter Erin Hudgens. Her sunny attitude can melt even the grumpiest boss's heart. Their secret relationship is burns like fire and is just as dangerous.

They're risking their careers and possibly the lives of their fellow firefighters if they don't gain control of their passion. If anyone discovers their secret, they're doomed. Quitting now before they get too deep is the safest course.

Except neither of them is interested in staying safe. . .

Your grumpy boss isn't the iceman anymore because he has succumbed to temptation.

Chapter One Look Inside

Erin grinned, wondering how many double entendres it would take for her secret fire chief boyfriend to capitulate. “Yeah, a shower. Got all dirty from handling the Halligan tool. It’s a long and hard rod.”

“I ended up dirty without touching it,” he said, struggling to remain neutral, though she recognized the deepening of his voice. .

“I feel very dirty.” Erin curved her lips. He was freaking hot, even wet and grimy from digging out cars in the snow and then moving the food from her trunk.

Noah licked his lips. “The food. We should put it away.”
“And track mud upstairs? It'll wait, and I am very, very wet.” She crept a few feet closer.

“Are you?” Noah’s voice cracked. His pupils were dilated, and Erin imagined his pants were getting tight.

“I’m about to get wetter.” She unbuckled her uniform belt and used her feet to push the heels off her boots.

Partially hypnotized, Noah watched her slowly drop her belt on the floor by the boots. “We’re at work. I’m on call. I’m supposed to be in command.”

“You don’t think the department would deny you fifteen minutes to shower? Besides, Chief, I’ll let you give the commands this time.” Erin dropped her soaked socks on the cement. She pivoted and, skipping the locker room, made a beeline to the captain’s office and its private shower off the captain’s bunkroom.

Noah followed her. “What are you doing?”

“Showering. No one will be here for a long time.” She leaned back against the door to the bunkroom. Noah stood over her, radiating arousal and indecision.

“I’m the Chief,” he practically whispered.

“What do you want, Chief?” She was going to stand there and let him make his move.

“You. I want you.” Noah grabbed her wrists and pinned her in place. He was only inches away, this fire milliseconds from flashover.

“Then have me.” Erin licked her lips. The ten days without Noah in her had been intolerable. Her body was calling for him. Why couldn’t he answer?

Something broke free. He crushed his mouth to hers, imprinting her against the wood, pressing himself hard against her. Using one hand to open the door, his other hand was unfastening her pants. They spun into the bunkroom, scrambling at each other. It was almost a competition of who could help the other out of their uniform first.

Erin somehow got his buttons open and put one hand on his incredible abs. He got her T-shirt up to her neck and cupped her breasts through her sports bra. The T-shirt would have come off if either of them wanted to break the kiss.

It wouldn’t be Erin. He tasted too good to stop.

She hadn’t been exaggerating. She’d let him command her any which way if he soothed the ache between her thighs. Her Fire Chief could indulge his primal urges here and now.

Over and over. In and out of her.

“Stop!” Noah tore his lips away from hers. He stumbled back, shirt and belt open, eyes simmering with passion. “We can’t do this.”

Erin lifted the T-shirt over her head and hooked her fingers under the edge of her sports bra. “We can do whatever we want. We’re adults.”

“No, I mean we can’t do this here… while we’re on duty,” Noah said, the Fire Chief and the Man warring for control.
